The Yobe State Government has approved a ₦460.83 million empowerment package to support female entrepreneurs and strengthen small-scale businesses across the state.
The approval was granted during the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu, as part of the government’s broader efforts to improve livelihoods and promote economic inclusion for women.
Under the programme, beneficiaries will receive essential business support items, including 50kg bags of beans, cooking oil, smokeless stoves, cooking utensils, and kitchenware.
Speaking after the council meeting, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, disclosed that 1,780 bags of 50kg beans will be distributed to women engaged in small-scale food businesses, particularly akara sellers, to help boost their operations and reduce production costs.
In a related approval, the council also earmarked ₦364.48 million for the procurement of 1,000 Yamaha GX 390 grinding machines, which will be distributed to residents under the state’s empowerment programme.
Beyond the entrepreneurship initiatives, the Yobe State Executive Council approved projects valued at ₦73.32 billion, covering key sectors such as agriculture, road infrastructure, housing, and market development, in a move aimed at accelerating socio-economic growth across the state.
The latest approvals reflect the state’s continued investment in economic empowerment and infrastructure development, with a particular focus on supporting women-led enterprises and expanding opportunities for local communities.
