The 2026 Ọdún-Adé Orolu Artisans’ Football Competition officially got underway with an exciting opening fixture as the POP Association secured a convincing 3–1 victory over the Welders Association.
The competition, organised as part of activities marking the annual Ọdún-Adé Orolu Festival, brings together artisans from various professional associations across Orolu Kingdom in a unique blend of sports, culture and community engagement.
The opening match set an energetic tone for the tournament, with the POP Association delivering an impressive performance to claim all three points against the Welders Association.
Football enthusiasts and residents are expected to return to the Orolu Community High School Field on the second day of the competition for two more exciting fixtures.

The first match of the day will see the Bricklayers Association take on the Plumbers Association at 2:00 p.m., while the Motorcycle Mechanics Association will face the Vulcanizers Association at 4:00 p.m.
Beyond the competition for trophies, the artisans’ football tournament has become one of the highlights of the Ọdún-Adé celebrations, promoting unity, healthy rivalry and stronger relationships among artisans within Orolu Kingdom.
Residents and football lovers are expected to turn out in large numbers as the tournament continues over the coming days.
